Ball season is here! Which means I won’t be at home as much to help out with the daily chores and puts more weight on Brandon’s shoulders to get things done. He always picks up my slack when I’m not able to be home. I really don’t know what we would do without him.
We are still transplanting seeds. I didn’t realize we would end up with so many when we sowed them. We have had some that didn’t make it after we transplanted them but not enough to worry about. Not exactly sure what happened. Don’t know if we transplanted too soon or what. There is no way we have the ground space to plant everything so we hope to be able to sell to some of the locals.
Trying to finalize the greenhouse plans. Just trying to make sure we make the right decision on what will work best for us. We want something that will last us years to come and won’t have to sink money into every year for upkeep.
We did have some cold weather this past week. Low was around 32 one night. Hoping that is the last of the cold weather and we won’t have to move our seedlings in and out of the house any more. We are running out of room to put them. This weekend is supposed to be beautiful and I have several things I want to get done while the weather is nice.
Still trying to make a decision on who to use to clear some of the property for livestock. We need to talk to the timber company to see if they can still cut if we move forward with the fence. That seems to be the hold up on that part. We don’t want to finish the fence and then they come in to cut the pine and tear down what we have put up. The land is still pretty wet so I’m sure they will need to wait a little while before cutting so they don’t tear up the land but dang we really need to get that finished.
Brandon wants to get chickens and I guess I’m fine with that. We do eat a lot of eggs so if we could get eggs out of the deal and save a little money on that and possibly sell a few dozen while we’re at it then I would possibly be on board for that idea. But the thing is I never have liked any type of bird. Guess you could say I pretty much hate them. You know the bird cage that you can go in at the zoo and feed the birds well I don’t go near them. I go the opposite direction of them. Don’t care to get crapped on or flogged by one.
Kinds feels like we are working in circles when it comes to the farm. Nothing is really finalized yet. Hopefully we can get things moving soon!
We had family pictures done this past weekend. I really thought they would get rescheduled due to the weather but it held off long enough for us to get that done. We had to change in the car. Everyone but me had to change just their shirt. I had to change my shirt and jeans. Man that was freaking hard!! Especially since it was hot in our vehicle and I get frustrated easily in tight spaces. It was soooooo humid and hot!!!! I’m sure my hair looked like a wreck because of the humidity. I am anxiously waiting to see how terrible I look (insert eye roll from Brandon). We did have to drive home in the storm and after several tornado warnings, raining like no tomorrow and lightning we finally made it home only for it to storm some more. I am terrified of storms. It gives me mega anxiety when one rolls through. I was up until they all passed and everything was back to peace and quiet.
Ball season is in full swing for both my kids. Looks like there won’t be a league ball team for Morgan to play on. Which is kind of a disappointment because our little league is dwindling to almost nothing. League ball is all that some kids have because their parents can’t afford for theirs to play travel ball. Morgan plays travel ball and man it is expensive! I hate that the opportunity for some kids gets taken away from them because either the kids have gotten lazy or they just play travel ball and not both and that puts the numbers down to have a team. Wish parents would push their kids to do more. Get outside more. Play some type of sports. They learn so much when they do. Wes had his first practice and I can tell he hasn’t played in over a year. Stupid covid took ball season away last year!! He is a little rusty but playing ball is like riding a bike. You never forget how to do it. Think they barely had enough for a team for Wesley’s age group. Jr/Sr Prom is coming up for Aaron. He will have to try on his suit/tux next weekend to make sure everything fits correctly. The school year has flown by and Aaron will be a Sr next year. Not sure I am ready for that! He is just my bonus baby but still think of him as my own. This world can be so unfair and cruel to be able these days and to let your kids grow up and move out into all the craziness is hard for me to imagine.
I hope you continue to follow us on this journey. Until next time……………
