I haven’t written, in what seems like, forever.  It has been CrAzY busy around my place for the past couple of weeks.  Let me see if I can fill you in on everything.

We are slowly but surely getting our farm going.  We got all four garden beds finished.  We still have tons of plants leftover that we didn’t know what to do with.  Our main goal was to sow enough seeds for ourselves and sell the rest but it took us so long to get our garden beds built and never got the greenhouse up that our plants started looking pretty pitiful so I think that it’s safe to say we might as well just plant the rest of what we have. We ran out of room to keep the seedlings in the house after we started transplanting them and the weather kept getting too cold to just leave them outside so a lot of our seedlings never made it to a bigger pot and didn’t grow very well.  We decided to plant some in the ground since we ran out of room in the raised beds so that is one of our next projects.  Hopefully we can get that finished up quickly and get the leftover veggie plants in the ground before they die completely.  Maybe we can sell some of our produce to make up for the money we are out for the garden so far.  A greenhouse is still in our plans.  We will fit it in after work and on the weekends when we can.

We still don’t have livestock on our property.  We still plan to purchase some but we haven’t been able to finish up a few things that need to be done BEFORE they land on our property.  It won’t STOP raining long enough for us to have the timber cut off the property. We need it to dry up a LOT before they bring in their equipment or else we will have a big mess to clean up after they move out and we don’t want that.  We realize there will be some debris and ruts after they leave but nothing like it would be if we don’t let the land dry out some before they move in.  We need the timber cut before we can finish the fence.

There is always something holding us up on getting projects marked off our list.  It is very discouraging to not be able to have the time to get your projects finished so you can sit back and admire your work.

I have to brag on my honey for a minute!  I have some of the craziest projects sometimes and he always brings them to life.  He is such a multi talented man and the end result for anything that I want to do is always fabulous because of him.  I sure am happy we crossed paths.  He is a keeper for sure!

The kids are in full force in everything they have going on right now.  Aaron is wrapping up his Junior year with good grades.  He will be a SENIOR next year!  I honestly don’t know how I feel about that.  He is my bonus baby and although he isn’t mine I love him like my own.  I am excited and sad for him at the same time.  Just wish they could stay little forever!  Aaron attended prom a few weeks ago and he was oh so handsome.  He was asked to be an usher for the Sr Day program and graduation. I am pretty sure they always pick the top four students in the class to hold that honor.  In a couple of weeks he will be attending Boys State and representing our school at that and not long after that he will be going to Arkansas Governor’s School in Russellville, AR.  What an honor for him to be picked to attend both of those programs.  We hope that he takes away as much knowledge as he can from those experiences.  Morgan is wrapping up her 8th grade year with good grades too.  She tried out for the Jr cheer squad and made co-captain.  She worked so hard that week!  She is transitioning from the Edge travel team back to Boom.  She will play with Edge through the end of May and then pick back up with Book the first part of June.  She will be playing high school softball next year and they had their first meeting this past week.  I think she applied to be part of the yearbook staff next year and is running for a position on the student council.  Wesley is wrapping up his 5th grade year with good grades as well.  His baseball season is almost over.  It kinda flew by faster than I wanted.  He doesn’t play on a travel team but could if there was an opening.  He is a good ball player and any team would be lucky to have him on their team.  He is wanting to play pee wee football this summer and I don’t know if I want him playing full tackle just yet.  He is still growing and could injure himself seriously while playing.  He isn’t very happy with me because I may not let him play.  I just try to see the bigger picture with the kids and hope we are making the right decision for them in the long run.

You can see why we stay so busy.. We work full time and have 3 kids that are active in many different things so that has us stretched in every direction.  On top of trying to raise a garden and get out property ready for livestock.  It will all fall into place one day.  Just not as quickly as I would like it to.

We hope you continue to follow us on this journey.  Until next time………………………
